Courses

Beginners Yoga

Term programme at Bishopdale

Yoga brings balance and wellbeing to the mind, body and spirit through stretching and strengthening practices (asana).

 

It also releases stress, anxiety and tension and increases energy levels through breathing practices (pranayama) and relaxation and meditation techniques.

 

By connecting thought, breath and posture Yoga aligns the mental physical and emotional bodies.

 

Yoga practice brings us back to the present moment to still the mind, expand the heart and return to self.

Beginners Pilates

Term programme at Bishopdale

Pilates provides a balanced blend of strength and flexibility training, engaging the mind and conditioning the whole body.

 

Pilates works several muscle groups simultaneously through smooth, continuous motion with a particular focus on strengthening the core or “power house” (abdominal, back and pelvic areas).

 

This course introduces the fundamentals of Pilates training and are a prerequisite to attending the Pilates intermediate classes (on the group fitness timetable). First class is compulsory.

Youth Strength & Conditioning Block Course

25 Feb – 3 Apr 2025

This six week block course is sport specific training for rugby and football, aimed at male high school student athletes preparing for the season ahead.

 

Your trainer, Kieran, has 15 years experience in playing and coaching rugby in Germany and locally with a passion for sport specific training.  His mantra – get the best out of your training to be the best you can be on the field.

 

Tuesdays – Strength – focusing on technique of the major lifts

Thursdays – Full body Conditioning

Runners Strength Block Course

10 Feb – 31 Mar

This block course is run in our functional studio as a small group circuit style class that is targeted specifically for runners of all levels.

 

It has been designed to strengthen muscle groups to increase power and efficiency in your running and prevent injuries.

 

The course allows for class personalisation, connection and growth over the duration of the programme.

 

During this 8 week course, we will target areas of fitness you may not normally pay attention to, like flexibility, balance, mobility and strength.

Specialised Sessions

Advanced Open Classical Ballet at Papa Hou

Everyone is welcome to this class although prior experience is recommended.  Designed for those with an understanding of ballet, this class has a greater intensity than an adult community class.

 

Our teacher, Abigail Boyle, will help grow and refine your technique and conditioning.

 

Those who have been to this class before can purchase concessions through their GymMaster app.  Those attending for the first time can get signed sign up at Elevate Fitness Papa Hou reception, who will walk you through the process.
