The reception staff are our front-of-house ambassadors, and they demonstrate our core values, our point of difference, our mission, vision and purpose, and our commitment to excellent customer service. They work closely with the Food & Beverage team at Number Six Bar and Bistro, ensuring a seamless guest experience. From room bookings to dining recommendations, we work together to create a welcoming and cohesive environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

Events & Functions Coordinator, Papa Hou

Are you a highly organised and customer-focused individual with a passion for hospitality and event coordination? We are looking for an Events & Functions Coordinator to manage venue, event and accommodation bookings, for Papa Hou and Hotel Give.

Papa Hou is a multi-purpose venue offering spaces for theatre productions and performance, community and corporate events.

As the Events & Functions Coordinator, you will be handling all venue and event bookings, including any required accommodation.

This position is full-time (30 hours per week, variable depending on demand), including evening and weekends if required.

Camps Manager, Wainui Park & Arthur’s Pass

We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, resilient leader to provide oversight and direction to our two camps – one in Akaroa Harbour and the other in Arthur’s Pass.

The role is based at Wainui, Akaroa and involves overseeing approximately 20 staff – delivering outdoor education programmes, accommodation and catering services, and maintenance.

The successful candidate will be values-driven, a people leader who is adaptable, kind hearted and mentally strong. This person will be willing to live on-site or nearby, and will be able to manage complexity, the varying rhythms of the high and low seasons, and a highly diverse staff team and offering.

Most importantly, we are looking for a person who will build a positive culture and infuse the whole staff team and every visitor/camper to the site with a sense of optimism, appreciation for the outdoors, and respect for others.

Programme Manager, Wainui Park

We are looking for a experienced outdoor instructor looking to step into a role where they will train, lead, mentor and supervise teams of instructors who are employed seasonally each year.

The successful candidate will be happy to live on site, work varied and adaptable hours to suit operational requirements, and enjoy and appreciate camp life.  The right person for this role has a love for outdoor education and adventure, is great with people, understands the basic principles of strengths based leadership and strengths based youthwork, and, most importantly, believes in the power of outdoor education to change lives for the better.

This role comes with accommodation and reports to the Camp Manager.

Wainui Seasonal Instructors

We are recruiting our instructional team for 2025-2026 season.  If you are looking for an intern/apprentice opportunity to log hours working with children in the outdoors, to kick-start your outdoor career, or, if you are looking for a change of scene while you work out what’s next but have enthusiasm, fitness, and common sense in abundance, a season at Wainui may be perfect for you!

 

These are full-time salaried roles with expenses for accommodation and meals deducted from your pay.

Whilst at Wainui Park you will have the opportunity to develop skills in leadership and coaching, outdoor education delivery and develop an ability to work with a wide range of people.

Casual Instructing Staff – Wainui Park

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced casual outdoor instructors to join our team at Wainui Park which is located on the beautiful Banks Peninsula and provides outdoor education experiences for school children from across the South Island.

 

Core Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups, including children, teens, and adults.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in outdoor education, preferably in a similar role.
  • Qualification in outdoor recreation and adventure-based learning.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Key Tasks

Safely lead and instruct groups in outdoor adventure activities
Facilitate personal growth, teamwork, and leadership development in participants
Ensure all activities are conducted in line with health and safety standards
Provide participants with a memorable and positive experiences
