We’re proud to share our 2026 Social Impact Report, which captures the collective difference made by our programmes, services, social enterprises, volunteers, staff, supporters and community over the past year.
The report shows that we now have a touchpoint with an estimated one in three Christchurch families each year. Through recreation, education, fitness, outdoor adventure, accommodation, events and community spaces, we create opportunities for people to connect, learn, grow and belong.
The numbers are certainly worth celebrating. More than 516,000 attendances were recorded across Kind Foundation programmes, over 10,000 children and young people regularly participated in recreation and learning opportunities, and volunteers contributed an incredible 16,000 hours of service.
But what matters most is what those numbers represent.
They represent friendships formed at camp. Confidence built on a climbing wall. New skills learned through youth programmes. Active ageing through LifeFit. Families finding support. Communities coming together at events. They represent people who feel more connected, more capable and more included.
The report also highlights the unique role social enterprise plays in making this impact possible. Every stay at Hotel Give, every gym membership, every venue booking and every programme enrolment helps generate income that can be reinvested into community outcomes. It’s a model that enables us to balance purpose with sustainability, ensuring we can continue making a positive difference every day.
This year, we invested $386,509 directly back into the community while continuing to grow participation across many of our programmes and services.
Of course, none of this happens in isolation.
To our staff, volunteers, funding partners, donors, customers and supporters: thank you. Your contribution helps create opportunities for thousands of people across Canterbury every year.
As we look ahead, we’re excited by what is possible. While challenges remain, the increasing number of people choosing to engage with The Kind Foundation reminds us that connection, wellbeing and belonging matter more than ever.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected and more socially sustainable community.
