Chef, Atawhai Cafe

We are looking for a full time chef to work in our vibrant Atawhai Café.

This role involves preparing and cooking food, ensuring that all food is of excellent quality served in timely manner whist having a high standard of food hygiene compliance.

The Café offers a wide range of cabinet food options, as well as daily a la carte breakfast and lunch menus. Breakfast is available 7.30am-11.30am and lunch from 11.30am-3pm.

We also cater for functions and events held at the Black Box, located in the Papa Hou complex.

We are looking for someone who has

a minimum 2 years’ experience in a café, restaurant, bistro
excellent knowledge of hygiene and safety in the workplace
a passion for food and industry trends
baking experience
initiative and is self-motivated, is reliable and has a professional manner
an ability to work well under pressure, handle fast paced environments and work well within teams

ECE Manager, Pūmanawa Early Learning Centres

We are is seeking an experienced, passionate and values-driven Early Childhood Education (ECE) Manager to lead both our Pūmanawa early learning centres – Papa Hou (central city) and  Bishopdale. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to step into a multi-centre leadership role within a not-for-profit organisation.

As our ECE Manager, you will provide leadership, compliance oversight and strategic direction across both centres, while guiding and supporting two dedicated teaching teams.

ECE Teachers/Kaiako, Pūmanawa Early Learning Centres

We are seeking full time, permanent kaiako to join our teaching team across our two Centres.

 

This exciting role includes delivering the Te Whāriki curriculum effectively, building strong relationships with tamariki and whānau, embracing bicultural practices across the centre, and working positively in collaboration with other members of our teaching team. We are looking for kaiako who can exemplify our core values (honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring) and contribute to a positive learning environment for all tamariki.

We need you to

ensure the Centre is child-centred, reflective of our whānau and community values, be nurturing and welcoming
work across all age groups in the Centre and be flexible around rostered time in ratio and release time
deliver the Te Whāriki curriculum effectively, meeting all relevant codes of practice and standards

Wainui Seasonal Instructors

We are recruiting our instructional team for 2025-2026 season.  If you are looking for an intern/apprentice opportunity to log hours working with children in the outdoors, to kick-start your outdoor career, or, if you are looking for a change of scene while you work out what’s next but have enthusiasm, fitness, and common sense in abundance, a season at Wainui may be perfect for you!

 

These are full-time salaried roles with expenses for accommodation and meals deducted from your pay.

Whilst at Wainui Park you will have the opportunity to develop skills in leadership and coaching, outdoor education delivery and develop an ability to work with a wide range of people.

Casual Instructing Staff – Wainui Park

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced casual outdoor instructors to join our team at Wainui Park which is located on the beautiful Banks Peninsula and provides outdoor education experiences for school children from across the South Island.

 

Core Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups, including children, teens, and adults.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in outdoor education, preferably in a similar role.
  • Qualification in outdoor recreation and adventure-based learning.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Key Tasks

Safely lead and instruct groups in outdoor adventure activities
Facilitate personal growth, teamwork, and leadership development in participants
Ensure all activities are conducted in line with health and safety standards
Provide participants with a memorable and positive experiences
