Youth Technical Mentor, 4C Centre

The 4C Centre is on the lookout for their next technical mentor to support young people with machine use and project support in our youth tech space, in the heart of Christchurch.

We are looking for someone who is competent in technology, this includes having a broad skill set with machine use, such as CNC machine, laser cutter, 3D printers, heat presses, vinyl cutters, VR, music making etc, while also being competent with software, such as Inkscape, Fusion360 etc.

Candidates MUST be confident working with young people.

This part time role is 12 hours per week, and may appeal to a university student wanting to gain experience in the industry.

Key Tasks

Support the kaupapa of the Centre, which is that it is for young people, about democratizing access to technology, inclusive and focused on learning and entrepreneurialism
Ensure 4C equipment is running smoothly and safely, and provide safety guidance to members and other staff
Provide support and direction to the 4C Shop stockists in order to maximize youth development and entrepreneurial capital outcomes
Support our annual Grapple event, guiding young people on this journey
Work in a strengths-based manner

Camp Cook, Wainui Park

We are looking for a dynamic team player who can cook and roll with the hustle and bustle of a busy outdoor centre, which sees thousands of children and young people attend each year for school camp.

The Camp Cook’s role is to deliver high quality, nutritious meals to a tight budget, and ensure the kitchens are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. The Camp Cook should at all times demonstrate our core values of kindness, inclusivity, responsibility and honesty and ensure our relationship with all parties who come to camp remains positive.

Option to live on site, the role is based in Wainui, on the Akaroa Harbour.

Key tasks

Catering nutritious meals for school, community and corporate groups
Managing menu planning, budgeting, food orders, kitchen maintenance, stock control and inventory.
Maintaining a high cleanliness standard across all kitchens
Implementing and managing the Food Control Plan

ECE Teachers/Kaiako, Pūmanawa Early Learning Centres

We are seeking full time, permanent kaiako to join our teaching team across our two Centres.

 

This exciting role includes delivering the Te Whāriki curriculum effectively, building strong relationships with tamariki and whānau, embracing bicultural practices across the centre, and working positively in collaboration with other members of our teaching team. We are looking for kaiako who can exemplify our core values (honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring) and contribute to a positive learning environment for all tamariki.

We need you to

ensure the Centre is child-centred, reflective of our whānau and community values, be nurturing and welcoming
work across all age groups in the Centre and be flexible around rostered time in ratio and release time
deliver the Te Whāriki curriculum effectively, meeting all relevant codes of practice and standards
work as a collaborative team member

Wainui Seasonal Instructors

We are recruiting our instructional team for 2025-2026 season.  If you are looking for an intern/apprentice opportunity to log hours working with children in the outdoors, to kick-start your outdoor career, or, if you are looking for a change of scene while you work out what’s next but have enthusiasm, fitness, and common sense in abundance, a season at Wainui may be perfect for you!

 

These are full-time salaried roles with expenses for accommodation and meals deducted from your pay.

Whilst at Wainui Park you will have the opportunity to develop skills in leadership and coaching, outdoor education delivery and develop an ability to work with a wide range of people.

Casual Instructing Staff – Wainui Park

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced casual outdoor instructors to join our team at Wainui Park which is located on the beautiful Banks Peninsula and provides outdoor education experiences for school children from across the South Island.

 

Core Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups, including children, teens, and adults.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in outdoor education, preferably in a similar role.
  • Qualification in outdoor recreation and adventure-based learning.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Key Tasks

Safely lead and instruct groups in outdoor adventure activities
Facilitate personal growth, teamwork, and leadership development in participants
Ensure all activities are conducted in line with health and safety standards
Provide participants with a memorable and positive experiences
