Cairo Akehurst was awarded the Overall Award of Excellence for his business Cattle Credit.
Cairo is in his final year of high school and has been a member of the 4C for several years, competing in our Grapple competition, and volunteering his time in the Centre. Cairo has been an asset to the 4C Centre, he is always open to be a mentor for young people in the 4C. Cairo is travelling to Los Angeles next year to attend a conference for his business; we are so excited for you Cairo!
Kit Young who owns Raulf Jean, was awarded Social Enterprise Award, Customer & Market Engagement Award and For Social Good Award.
Kit joined the 4C whanau earlier this year through the Ōtautahi Youth Mākete, then became a 4C member and shop stockist with their crochet items. Kit has volunteered their time to teach other young people how to crochet and even donated $400 from their business to the 4C to benefit young people on their own business journey. Kit is a special young person who is driven to make a difference.
Maddi Scott who owns The Purple Project won the Regional Rising Star Award & the Regional Spirit of YES Award.
Maddie has taken part in many of our Ōtautahi Youth Mākete’s and has utilised the 4C Centre to support her business. Maddie was also recently on Seven Sharp where she shared her story about her mental health journey and ways her business gives back.
In addition to our amazing young people winning awards, our very own Jaz Rule – 4C Team Lead & Youth Worker was awarded the Canterbury Regional Excellence Award as Distinguished Mentor for the South Island 2025.
Jaz has been in the Youth Sector for many years, always finding ways to be able to support young people. Jaz’s previous role was in Youth Mental Health Support. This is where Jaz discovered a deep passion and love for supporting young people through wellbeing and creative mediums, this is where she developed her own business Fragile Florals. This award is a testament to the work she does with our young people every day.
